What is a troglodyte ? Literally, we call a troglodyte, a person living in a cavern or a cave. In Monaco, the architect Jean-Pierre Lott has reclaimed this "concept word" by imagining an incredible villa on the Monaco rock. The result is astonishing. The Villa Troglodyte is a unique architectural masterpiece, full of surprises and creativity. Due for delivery in 2019, the building faces the challenge of sustainability. Its design integrates a large ecological aspect: it uses natural energies, geothermal energy, solar energy (photovoltaic panels) and rainwater recuperation. A true 3.0 cave.
Passing near the Villa Troglodyte intrigues all those who pass by. Nestled among the rocks and the vegetation of its neighbor, the Jardins exotiques, the building surprises by its outdoor entrance. The entrance is accessed via a walkway that emerges from a crack in the rock, overlooking a swimming pool carved out of the stone. It is a successful nod to the water tables that run through the surrounding caves.
The inside of the villa is just as spectacular. To respect the declared goal of offering an eco-friendly villa, the house was designed as a hollow rather than a construction. This involves an in-depth study of the cavity, playing on the faults to let in light and heat.
The Villa Troglodyte is built on 5 levels, adapted to the natural space available. The inside comprises 3 bedrooms and a glass lift to facilitate access. Each level has a bedroom with a dark, recycled wooden floor that blends in perfectly with the surrounding rock. The second-to-last level includes a living room and kitchen in a minimalist style. Finally, the basement has a swimming pool and a garage equipped with a charging station for an electric vehicle.
